Laura's first instrument is the Piano, and has been playing since the age of 11. From 2004 to 2011 Laura was tutored privately by Nicola Pomeroy Hon. B DipABRSM ATCL. Whilst at University she was tutored by Mikael Petterson BMus (Hons) before returning to Nicola's tuition to prepare for her Grade 8 Piano exam.
Laura originally began playing keyboard at a music shop based in Wolverhampton, she then progressed to private piano lessons where she studied for piano exams from the beginning. Laura has taken both Piano and Music theory exams up to Grade 8 (see below).
Laura has performed many solos in several school and choral concerts. She has also performed in several piano recitals arranged by her piano tutor, Nicola Pomeroy, who previously hosted piano concerts in which her students perform.
When Laura was studying her Music degree she used her piano skills throughout the university ensembles. She played her first Piano duet in 2012 at the University Concert with a fellow first year student, in which they performed the 'Suite' from Bizet's 'L'Arlesienne'. She also played piano for the University Orchestra and helped fellow students by accompanying their woodwind or brass solo performances.
Laura's solo 3rd year final professional project was titled 'Film Music for the Piano', some photos of this are below. She achieved a B for her 'Professional Project' Module, which she is very proud of. Laura graduated with a 2:1 BMus (Hons) degree in September 2014.
Laura teaches Piano privately alongside her full-time job in the Higher Education sector. She also now offers Piano music services at functions, conferences and events. Find out more.
