Laura Wright is an West Midlands based musician practicing as a Pianist, Singer and Saxophonist. Laura has performed professionally behind Russell Watson, appeared on Songs of Praise performing behind Katherine Jenkins and Colin Thackery and performed with West End stars across the UK with Birmingham Voices.
Laura's BiographyLaura is a musician from the West Midlands, who has loved music throughout her life. She has a great love for a wide range of musical genres, in particular classical, film, swing and musical theatre. Laura's participation in music started in primary school having been involved in music ensembles ever since. Piano is her first instrument and has been playing since the age of 11. Laura has studied with Nicola Pomeroy, who tutored her through grades 1 to 6, before studying with Mikael Petterson at University. Laura then studied again with Nicola to work towards her Trinity Guildhall Grade 8, which she achieved a hard-earned Distinction for. Laura has previously taught Piano privately.

Laura's second instrument is voice. She loved perofrming in choir at primary school and sent on to be a member of the Summerhill Choral Society in secondary school from 2005 until 2017 when it reformed to an adult choir. During membership the choral society staged musical shows each yearfor which Laura tok part in every staged production from 2005-2017. Each production and the part she has played is listed on the 'Productions' page of this website. In her time at The Summerhill Secondary School (from 2004-2009) she was very much involved in the Music Department and would often cover the recorder ensemble if the teacher could not make a rehearsal. Upon leaving school she was awarded the Ann Baylie Creative Arts Cup for her outstanding contribution to extra-curricular music activities.
Laura studied her A-levels at Stourbridge College before studying a BMus (Hons) Music degree at the University of Wolverhampton. Laura took part in many ensembles as a part of her degree such as University Choir, Semi-Chorus, University Orchestra, Wind Band (playing Alto Saxophone) and Recorder Ensemble. In her second year she was also part of a Piano Duet, and ran the Musical Theatre ensemble, which included a show for which she directed. In the years of her Music degree, Laura taught herself to play Alto Saxophone. She advanced quickly and therefore plays in the West Midlands Concert Band and has been a member since 2014.
Upon finishing University, Laura graduated in September 2014 with a 2:1 music degree with honours. She continued her study at Masters level in a degree of a new discipline, achieving a distinction for Masters of Event and Venue Management in 2019.
Laura's love of Musical Theatre drew her to join local theatre group 'Third From The Right Productions' who stage a concert and full stage production each year.
